Porcelain pebble vase #5
A pebble vase thrown in porcelain, saggar fired in an electric kiln.
Width 12 cm
Height 12.2 cm
This vase is the one you will receive.
A lesser know technique using electric kilns, the ceramics are placed in a clay container (saggar) with locally foraged combustible materials found specifically around my home and the cove here in St Agnes, including Cornish elm wood shavings and seaweed.
This controlled process allows me to manipulate organic materials and oxides to evoke landscapes of land and sea, creating beautiful patina’s embedded in the piece with colours reminiscent of our Cornish coastline.
Every piece is therefore truly unique.
This work is finished and sealed with liquid quartz, creating a watertight, satin matt finish producing functional pieces other than only for display, they are therefore suitable for holding water for fresh cut flowers than traditional wax sealed pieces.
Handwash only.
